2003 Season Recap:
2003 was the year when for the first time in history of the
club, there were 2 teams fielded in the Midwest Cricket Tournament.
This year so a huge number of players join the club which
made it possible to play with 2 teams. The teams were divided
and were named Cleveland 1 and Cleveland 2.
Cleveland 1 was captained by Rakesh Srivastava and had mostly
players who have had the experience of playing previous tournaments.
Cleveland 2, led by Rajan Gautam, had mostly newcomers in
the team who were playing their first Midwest. Though the
teams were very competitive during the season, Cleveland 1
made the play offs only to lose to eventual Champions Columbus
Cricket Club in the quarter finals. Infact Cleveland 1 lost
to only 2 teams in the tournament, Ohio State Alumni and Columbus
in the league stages and Columbus again in the quarters. They
also played an exciting TIE with Everest Cricket club, needing
4 runs of the last ball, Cleveland 1 tied the game by getting
3 byes.
Cleveland 2 on the other hand showed they had some great players
and this helped in beating Ohio State Alumni in the leauge
stages but due to being a new team and players still getting
to know each other, the team could not make it to the playoffs.
